What people say
It’s a nice Park to plan and it has pretty good play equipment. There is a cool tree to climb and I like the spiderweb climbing equipment and the rock climbing equipment. There are lots of cockatoos here that eat the berries and then sometimes go crazy and get hit by the cars on the road. I think they get drunk from the berries.
I came to do the Cooks River Parkrun. It’s every Saturday 8am. Lovely organisers!
HISTORY This reserve was formally known as Simpson Reserve it was renamed Mary MacKillop Reserve in May 1995 by Canterbury City Council then it was renamed Saint Mary MacKillop Reserve on 14 October 2010 in honour of Australia's first Catholic Saint. Mary MacKillop was known as the Saint Mary of the Cross. She founded the Congregation of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart in South Australia in 1866. The Order founded for the education of poor children and to care for the deprived and disadvantaged in society. Mary MacKillop was beatified by Pope John Paul II on 19 January 1995. She was later canonised by Pope Benedict xvi on 17 October 2010. Nice little park I loved the chairs.
Lovely small riverside park, with equipment for differently aged kids. Has a bubbler too.
