Making the world a happier place for dogs.
Happiness looks different for every dog. A nose-led walk through the bush. A splash at the beach. A quiet pub garden where they can just be with you. We’re here to help you find more of it.
Dogs deserve better than guesswork.
Finding dog-friendly places shouldn’t be this hard. The information is scattered across council websites, buried in PDFs, out of date, or missing entirely. Most directories only list places that market themselves as dog-friendly — missing the vast majority of venues where dogs are welcome, or not, under rules nobody has gathered in one place.
And even when you find somewhere, “dog-friendly” doesn’t tell you much. Is there shade? Water? Space to run? Is it fenced? Is it actually good for your dog — or just technically allowed?
We started Dog Happiness because we believed dogs deserve better information infrastructure. Their happiness depends on the decisions their humans make. And those decisions depend on good information.
A guide to dog happiness — not just a directory.
Dog Happiness is a platform for understanding and finding what makes dogs happy.
We map thousands of venues across NSW — parks, beaches, cafés, pubs, and more — and assess each one for dog access. Every venue gets a clear status: confirmed, likely, unknown, or not allowed. Every decision is traceable back to its source. We show our evidence, because trust matters more than coverage.
But finding places is only part of the picture. We also publish guides and articles that explore what happiness actually looks like for dogs — from the science of sniffing to how dogs experience love, from reading the signs of quiet contentment to understanding why the right environment changes everything. Because the best decision isn’t just where can I take my dog — it’s what does my dog actually need?
How we do it
Every venue
Not a curated shortlist. We set out to map every venue in your area — confirmed, likely, unknown, or not allowed. The full picture.
Smarter than a directory
Council rules, venue websites, reviews, real-world signals. We assess what’s actually there for your dog, not just whether they’re technically allowed.
Built by dog people. Getting better every day.
Share what you know — access info, conditions, photos, reviews — and help us build the most complete guide to dog-friendly places in Australia.
