Well where do I start, I headed out for a one hour drive to Carlo's Cafe on a Saturday to purchase bulk seconds pies, I spent $90 but I would have spent double that if I could. When I arrive there was no one to be seen, after a minute a lady appears who knew noting about buying pies or what stock was available. Soon after the manager arrived (Eastern European accent) appeared.. and from the outset explained that it was Saturday and "She was doing me a favour" to look in the freezer, "because it was cold in there" and she does not perform that job normally and basically the customer should take whatever is in the shop freezer, all that was on display was sausage rolls and beef pies, I wanted other pies. In conclusion I just cannot understand why a business who prides itself on marketing family NRL and the wider celerbrity market cannot serve one person on a Saturday morning. I WAS THE ONLY PERSON IN THE SHOP.
The pies are great. I purchased hot pies and sausage rolls as well as frozen pies and sausage rolls for later. Unfortunately the pastry was not very flakey and the temperature of the pies were not as hot as I’d liked. But the flavor of the curry pies I bought were amazing!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A True Aussie Gem - The Best Pies in Town! Garlo's Bakery Cafe is an absolute institution and a five-star experience from start to finish. This is the place you go when you want a taste of a classic, perfectly crafted Australian pie. What makes Garlo's stand out is their unwavering commitment to quality. The pies are, without a doubt, the star of the show. The "Big on Meat, Thin on Pastry" motto is a promise they deliver on every time. The fillings are incredibly generous, with tender, high-quality meat and rich, savoury gravy that is full of flavour. The pastry is golden, flaky, and just thin enough to let the filling shine without falling apart. The Curry Beef pie is a personal favourite, with a perfect balance of spice and richness. Beyond the pies, their sausage rolls and other bakery treats are also top-notch. The coffee is excellent, and the atmosphere is exactly what you want from a local bakery cafe—warm, friendly, and no-fuss. The staff are always welcoming and efficient, making every visit a pleasure. Garlo's is more than just a bakery; it's a taste of home. Whether you're a local or just passing through, do yourself a favour and stop in for a pie. You won't be disappointed!
Have been buying these pies from Woolies and Coles. And been meaning to come and visit their cafe for a while. Got a chance today. Had the chicken garlic and beef chilli. Both were very good and will try them again. It was $11.40 with the two pies and two sauces (30c each). Thank you 😀
One of the few food options in this particular area as it's mostly industrial, but it's got a very nice selection of pies and other standard café fare available and reasonably priced. I've tried a few different flavours of their pies over the years at the café and have always been satisfied.
