What people say
Sydney seems to slowly be getting her groove back. Barangaroo was alive with people when I popped down last weekend to check out the Sunset Sessions. Sliding into a padded booth on the double-decker party bus’s upper deck gave us a birds-eye view of the drinkers’ corral. Alongside a bus-based DJ booth and cocktail bar putting out a great Davidson plum old-fashioned ($18) and an old man saltbush margarita ($18), there’s a Rivareno Gelato cart scooping out icy fruit-based granita. If you’re after something more substantial, local smokehouse, NOLA Smokehouse and Bar, have set up camp and are turning out tender slices of their famous brisket. We ate ours as a brisket box ($26) with corn salsa, ‘slaw and a dinner roll, plus tart house-made pickles to cut the fat. Make a night of it by spending some quality time in your own head at DARKFIELD at Barangaroo. Located in a compound of shipping containers just next to Mordor (Crown casino) they have their own Archie Rose bar to fuel you up for any of the four experiences they have on offer ($22–$30/ticket). I took in Coma and Flight, with my viewing hours of Air Crash Investigations finally proving useful for being on a doomed plane. Don’t go if you’re afraid of the dark…
Lovely place that cradles a big chunk of the bigger players in Sydney, the area features a lovely walkway with a lot of. Restos to choose from. There is also a deck where one can sit and gaze out towards the water. Serene at night an bustling during the day, this is definitely a must visit for any tourist in Sydney
Hazardous corner with traffic exiting out of the Crown, Corner of Barangaroo Avenue and Barton St, Uber and Taxis exiting the Crown multiple times I’ve seen Ubers and taxi’s nearly running people over and Bicycles.
I have stayed 3 months in Barangaroo area, it is one of the most beautiful, cozy and diverse places in Sydney. Heaps of sightseeng, touristic and dining locations.
A successful redevelopment of declining port facilities. Now it's dotted with fancy skyscrapers dominating the skyline. On the ground restaurants pop up like mushrooms along with a few upper class shops here and there. I found the place offers an equal amount of value to both lunchtime outings at work and after hours family entertainment. However, the backdrop story on how some rich and influential ones fast tracked their development plans through approval gives a bit of a sour taste in the mouth.
