South Dubbo Tavern

We only get out to Dubbo on occasion so we like to make the most of the experience. A few years back we met friends at South Dubbo Tavern and it was a great experience, especially with that quality play area for the kids. So when we went a week ago and friends wanted to meet up there it was a no brainer and we were keen. Unfortunately that’s all the positivity I have for this review and venue apart from the beer being super cold which was great, ends here. In all my years of attending pubs and clubs since smoking has been banned from enclosed areas, this is the worst experience my friends and family have ever had. The pokie smoking area is right next to the dining area, pretty much in the middle of the inside section of the venue, and every time the doors to the area were opened and closed the cigarette smoke smell would bellow out filling the room with that putrid pungent stench. It was so overbearing that we ended the night early just to get out of the place. And it had nothing to do with the food or kitchen or something burning factor in there as was explained in previous review replies! Cigarette smoke has an unforgettably unpleasant unmistakable smell. The food wasn’t much chop with the burgers being pretty dry, the kids pasta was bordering on cold to warm but I’m not sure if it was just that our dining experience was made worse by the cigarette smell. Our young bloke did rate the nuggets and Paddle Pop though. Staff were really good and friendly and service at the bars was also great. Our table was booked and we all searched for a while for it till we found one with a weird name on it which was close to the booking name but now we just call our mate that name so was funny. Thankfully the following day we went to the Macquarie Inn who more than made up for our Dubbo experience with exceptional food, great beverages and an amazing smoke free smell/environment. Anyway, this was one of the earliest nights out we’ve had in a while so thanks for encouraging a good nights sleep.

South Dubbo Tavern is the real deal for anyone visiting Dubbo. Great specials(can’t beat the Monday Wing Deal), warm hospitality and welcoming family feel. Shout out to Courtney who was helpful, friendly and some of the best hospital service we’ve had in the Central West! Great venue.

The Pork Ribs were really delicious and the sides too ! Nice Atmosphere and very friendly Staff ! I highly recommend this place ! 👍🙂👍

We had the Sunday roast for $15 and the Mexican Parma. My son and I would rate both our meals 10/10 and the mushroom sauce was 20/10 - service was fast & friendly, definitely recommend
