Nine Mile Beach

BeachTuncurry

Nine Mile Beach at Tuncurry is an enormous stretch of sand where dogs can run off-leash from dawn to dusk. The scale is the draw — this is one of the longest dog-friendly beaches in NSW. The ocean is wild and unpatrolled, so it's best for dogs that enjoy a big run on the sand rather than swimming. Dogs must stay 50 metres clear of patrolled swimming areas.

Frequently asked questions about dogs in Tuncurry

Is Tuncurry dog friendly?

Green space leads the dog-friendly options in Tuncurry, with a network of council parks to walk. Mid-Coast Council's permissive policy means dogs are welcome on-leash at most parks unless signed otherwise. Beach Street Reserve Fenced Dog Park rates among the highest dog parks in the area.

Where can I take my dog in Tuncurry?

In Tuncurry, dog-friendly options include Beach Street Reserve Fenced Dog Park, Oxley Reserve, and Lone Pine Memorial Park.

Are there off-leash areas in Tuncurry?

Yes — Tuncurry has off-leash dog areas at Beach Street Reserve Fenced Dog Park, Taree Street Foreshore, and Nine Mile Beach. Off-leash rules and hours can change, so always check current council signage before letting your dog off-leash.

How does Dog Happiness decide if a venue is dog-friendly?

We check council regulations, venue websites and FAQ pages, and community reviews. Council and venue-operator sources carry the most weight. Where confirmed or clearly identified, we show the access status and any conditions that apply. Access information is based on the best evidence available and may not always reflect the latest changes.

Can venue dog policies change?

Yes. Venue policies can change at any time — especially at pubs, cafés, and other hospitality venues. A venue that was dog-friendly last month may have changed its policy. We update our information regularly, but we always recommend checking directly with the venue if you’re planning a special trip.
