Lovedale Cafe is a cafe in Pokolbin where dog access has not yet been confirmed — it's worth checking before you visit.
I belong in a friendship group, Maitland Over 40's. We were originally booked in at another cafe on Sunday the 31st of May 2026 for 20 people and Thursday night, I found out via Facebook that this cafe was closed all weekend. I had to do a last minute scramble and Lovedale Cafe was very happy to have our group. We were extremely grateful. This cafe was very lovely and all the staff are exceptionally wonderful people and cheeky 😀 We are a large group and had to be seated outside and unfortunately there was no sun and it was cold, but this was not the cafe's fault at all. All the food came out quickly and was well presented and nice big servings. I truly can't thank this cafe enough and I definitely highly recommend them. Parking was easy and wheelchair friendly and they are children friendly. Please come and visit this wonderful cafe and there brilliant, fabulous staff. Absolutely 10 out of 10. Thank you 🥰 Sadly I forgot to get photos 😞
Visited early on wet Sunday morning and ordered three takeaway bacon and egg rolls with coffee. The moment our group approached the counter, the staff appeared totally unapproachable & unfriendly. If you work in hospitality or any service industry, a warm welcome is a good start instead of a blunt “What can I get you?” We accidentally spilled our takeaway coffee on the floor and politely asked the staff for help to clean it up. Despite apologising multiple times, there were ZERO acknowledgement, except to the the counter staff directing a younger staff member to clean up. This unfriendlyness and look as if we were at fault, made us feel extremely uncomfortable. The food was also disappointing. The bacon and egg rolls turned out to be burgers!! Not quite what we ordered. Bacons were extremely oily, with oil dripping into the takeaway boxes (photos attached). This gave the impression that the food was not properly cooked or handled with care. In summary, the issues are: 1. Unprofessional and rude staff made our group unwelcome. 2. Bacon and egg rolls are burgers. 3. Poor presentation of food 4. Charged a Sunday surcharge for basic customer service.
Everything we had, the beef burger, steak sandwich, and waffles, was incredibly delicious and great value for money. But the scones were definitely the highlight of our meal! They were so good that I honestly forgot to take a photo before we devoured them. The staff were so kind and welcoming. I’m sad they’re closed for Australia Day tomorrow because I’d come back in a heartbeat. Don't miss this place!
OmG ! What a great place ! I was recommended this place by Julie , Hunter valley Tours . My husband and I went there for a nice breakfast and welcome by the beautiful staff Christine. I visited this café early in the morning and ordered three takeaway bacon and egg rolls. From the moment we approached the counter, the staff appeared frustrated and impatient. There was no greeting at all—just a blunt “What can I get you?” which immediately felt unwelcoming. While waiting for our order, we stood inside the café as it was pouring rain outside and there was very limited space. Unfortunately, we accidentally spilled a coffee on the floor and politely asked the staff for help to clean it up. Despite apologising multiple times, we received no response—only an unfriendly look that made us feel extremely uncomfortable, as if we had caused a major inconvenience. This showed a complete lack of customer service and basic hospitality. The food was also disappointing. The burgers were extremely oily, with oil dripping into the takeaway boxes (photos attached). This gave the impression that the food was not properly cooked or handled with care. Overall, this experience completely ruined my morning and left me feeling embarrassed for having recommended this café to my friends. This was my second visit, and it will definitely be my last. The staff were unprofessional and made us feel unwelcome. I was also charged a Sunday surcharge, yet the level of service did not justify it at all. If you choose to work in hospitality, professionalism, patience, and respect for customers should be a given.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
