Katandra Reserve is a park in Mount Elliot with plenty of shade. Dog access isn't confirmed, but it may be worth checking.

Dog rules

Central Coast Council's "Guide to being PAWSOME!" booklet states: "When exercising in a public place, keep your dog on a lead and under the control of a competent person." "This means when you are outside your home, including on the footpath, your dog must be on a lead — except in designated dog off-leash exercise areas." The booklet also notes that under the Companion Animals Act 1998, dogs are prohibited from schools, shopping centres, beaches (except in designated areas), food preparation areas, playgrounds and wildlife protection areas. This park is not on Central Coast Council's published off-leash list, so the council's general on-leash rule applies. (Source: Central Coast Council — "Guide to being PAWSOME!" A lovely quiet spot. Plenty of parking. Lots of trees and shade, which made it a lot cooler than the 32 degrees out on the road. The St John lookout is impressive. Looks east over Erina and Terrigal.

Great lookout and very quiet reserve. Can see across Erina and Matcham, all the way out to Terrigal and the ocean.

My Elliott. Nice easy 2hr walk from here to Gosford. My mate 75 with a replaced hip did it easily. Nice views

Beautiful day for a bushwalk. Some of the track was closed off but we still made the Tomer walk up to Katandra reserve & St John's lookout was stunning. Back by Graves walk. No leeches today - to dry underfoot I think.

Great sign posted walk but after getting a few kilometres into the walk there were HEAPS of leaches and I had to turn around and go back. Hopefully it was just a bad time to go and I can try it again as it seemed like an awesome walk apart from the leaches that made it unable to complete.
