What people say
Below expectations The long black was tasteless, a watery brownish, eloooooooongated coffee. The spicy masla chai was not that good either, not milky, not spicy, not tasty enough. The cold brew was just ok but for 7 dollars, I expected at least a GOOD coffee. The dishes were not particularly good either. Lamb with yoghurt on pita was not really good. The lamb eas minced rather cold that freshly made. Puting the coldish lamb on top of a yoghurtish paste did not heated it up either. On the bottom you can find a thin soaked pita style layer that was soft and difficult to cut at the same time. The poached eggs were on the small side. Not really good. The "Goodfields Bowl" was an unloved, I through everything inside dish. The single items might have been ok but throwing them all together, it destroys flavors and aesthetics as well. The grilled pumpkin was annoyingly cold. Bad, bad we experience. The ragu was a ready to make dish, a rewarmed mash of some type of meat mixed with al not dente pasta swimming in some redish sauce. The young people serving were tryinh their best and only thanks to them, this review gets a star more than what it deserves. (Why do they employ so many so young staff?) The shop was noisy with a loud unpleasant music pushing you to eat and go, have the table ready for the next one. The expectations were high considering the queue at the front door. The dissapointment was unfortunately a surprise. Please avoid if you have some basic expecations for a tasty and pleasant lunch.
This restaurant occupies 2 shop fronts along Lindfield Avenue. It's popular with locals and offers all day dining and takeaway services. Plenty of seating and interior decor is pleasing. Tables are spaced quite close to accommodate more clients. Staff are friendly and service is excellent with manager actively involved. Wide menu choices and competitive prices. Street parking is usually difficult but village public and paid council undercover parking available.
We ordered two dishes, lamb pita and lobster benedict of which none were edible. Lamb pita the lamb had a very bad odor that is supposed to be removed during prep. So i took all the lamb meat out of the pita sub after one bite and just ate the chips and veggies. Lobster benedict lol. The lobster was the opposite of fresh that it tasted very old and fishy. On top of that there was NO seasoning whatsoever. Which worsened the fishy taste even the egg tasted bad. No salt whatever on the asparagus even. Goodness. It was the worst meal ive ever had in the last like ten years or from what i can remember. The bread (pita and sourdough) were baked well but everything else that came with them was awful which did not help in enjoying the bread. The only thing that was edible was the chips and the mandarin soda. Also asked for a diff salt shaker as the one we had was out of salt or wasnt working cus no salt came out. The waitress had a very indifferent face and wasnt helpful. She gave us a diff shaker that was not much diff from what we had and gave us an almost empty bottle of tabasco (requested). Awful. Do not recommend. Will never visit again. And told ppl around me to not visit as well.
I hadn’t been to this café for nearly four years since it was always too busy to find a seat. I decided to drop by for a quick brekkie and coffee, and I must say — the quality hasn’t changed at all! The coffee is still great, and the food is excellent. I only had scrambled eggs on toast, but that alone deserves five stars. The eggs were cooked perfectly. I’m really glad they’ve maintained their quality over the years. It’s still one of my local favourites.
Great place for brunch at this bustling cafe. We came specifically for the special truffle menu and it did not disappoint. Must try the truffle ragu! 😋 My friends had the steak and eggs, and the fried chicken griddlecake which were also positively received. We will be back again next year ☺️
