Simo’s Kitchen is a pub in Balmain where dog access has not yet been confirmed — it's worth checking before you visit.
The accommodation is not the best, very simple and not with the appearance of a real restaurant. But if you want to eat real Italian with a good meal of fresh pasta with quality products and with different choices this is the right place. The portions are also abundant and the ingredients are fresh. Price more than correct considering the competition. Recommended!
Simos Kitchen is an understated gem that deserves much more recognition. We had the privilege of hosting our engagement party with food from Simos Kitchen, and it was nothing short of spectacular—flawlessly executed, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. What sets Simos apart is not only his culinary skill but also his tireless work ethic. Open 7 days a week, he pours his passion into every dish and creates an authentic, refined dining experience that’s hard to find elsewhere. For such a high standard of cuisine, the pricing is remarkably reasonable. Is truly a hidden treasure in Balmain, offering a refined yet approachable Italian dining experience that shouldn’t be missed. If you appreciate fine food crafted by a talented chef, this is the place to be.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Authentic Italian & Very Kid‑Friendly A fantastic hidden gem. The chef is incredibly talented and clearly passionate about his food — everything is handmade with real care. Our kids loved the bolognese and the oven‑baked lasagna. Both were fresh, generous, and far better than the usual kids’ meals you find elsewhere. The squid ink pasta with fresh blue swimmer crab was outstanding, and the lemon curd dessert was beautifully made and perfect for sharing. High‑quality, authentic Italian dishes and very family‑friendly. This place deserves more customers. We’ll definitely be back!
As an Italian, I can honestly say that eating at Simo’s Kitchen truly felt like being back in Italy. Simo’s handmade pasta is outstanding - fresh, perfectly textured, and clearly made with skill and care. We started with stuffed zucchini flowers, delicate and full of flavour, followed by several pasta dishes that we shared. Every plate felt authentic and reminded me of eating in Italy. Desserts were just as good: the tiramisù, with its light mascarpone cream, was excellent and a great way to end the meal. Highly recommended if you’re looking for real Italian food in Balmain, Sydney!
My first time dining at Simos and everything was superb! We shared the starters - Zucchini Flowers and home-made focaccia, so fresh, light batter and full of flavour. We also shared 3 pasta dishes - Squid Ink Crab, Green Tagliatelle with Prawns and Mushroom Rissotto. The serving sizes were very generous and we finished every plate! It was absolutely delicious. The wine and cocktails were also great and went well with the food. Definitely recommend this to anyone who loves home-made pasta, a quiet atmosphere to sit back and chat with family and friends, or enjoy a celebration over delicious food and drinks.
