The Riverview Hotel

Lovely quiet pub in the back streets of Balmain where dogs are allowed inside. Staff were friendly and food was delish!

My friend and I went today and we were very disappointed. The bar staff were painfully slow and didn’t fill the drinks right up. Then we ordered the risotto and a roast dinner. They took so long to arrive I had to chase them up then they arrived stone cold. I get the feeling they were forgotten. Whilst the risotto tasted nice there wasn’t much of it and it was spread across a flat plate making it even colder. My roast went back and a new hotter one came out. Without complaint from them I must say. Unfortunately the gravy lacked flavour and was more like water, The veg were all hard as was the Yorkshire pudding, I’m Yorkshire and that wasn’t a good one. The meat however did taste good. We also had to order a plate of chips just to fill my friend up. Then an older patron tripped over two dogs on two separate occasions. She went down on the floor heavily in front of the bar the first time and the bar staff didn’t even flinch. No help from them at all. Not so much as an “are you ok”. Very disappointing. Tbh the staff both seemed very inexperienced and a bit gormless too.

After being locals to The Riverview for years, we decided to host our marriage ceremony & reception at the pub. We wanted to throw a big party, exclusively, with around 120 guests. From the very start of organising the night, the entire Riverview team were excellent. They had every detail covered, they put us at ease & took any concern we had, graciously. The night was an absolute blast. We had so many guests reach out to us personally to say how much fun they had, that the food was excellent & the staff were fantastic. We both had the best night too. We are extremely thankful to The Riv & so happy they facilitated a night that was perfect to celebrate us. Professional, personable & easy.

Had a fabulous night at their Friday night jazz. An amazing vibe and the best beef and Guinness pie I’ve had in years. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a cool supper club atmosphere in a cozy inviting pub. The staff are very attentive, welcoming and friendly. Great fun on a Friday night. We will be be back for sure!

Had lunch yesterday with my two adult daughters The fish and chips were great and the service quick and friendly . One small thing .. we ordered a Baked Banana pudding to share . We were very excited as it sounded amazing! Not amazing .. hard as if over microwaved. We all had one taste and left the rest . A bit disappointing ! Maybe desert is not your thing ?? However everything else was great
