Centennial Grove Grotto is a hidden canyon walk at Blackheath, a treasure tucked into the mountains and listed as a dog-friendly council reserve. Dogs are welcome on-leash, and the track leads down to the waterfall through lovely scenery. There is parking at the Centennial Glen end. A scenic on-leash walk for a sure-footed dog.

It’s a treasure that hiding in the mountain and waiting for you to find it. From Centennial Glen car park down to the waterfall, not too easy, better to go there in good weather condition. The water is nice and cold. My kids love it. It’s an area which can allow you to bring your dog. So surprise.
Gorgeous canyon in the deep inside of forest. Not difficult to find it, just a bit stiff stairs down, so not for kids nor older people. Although there was lots of storm and rain this winter, there was still not enough water for “canyoning” but still plenty for swimming and cooling down. Be careful of slippery rocks.
The path was easy to moderate with steep steps that go down to the Grotto. It was too steep, that I wasn't able to go to the bottom due to my knees being sore. There were handrails for safety, but I wasn't taking the chance. But we did manage to get some shots of the waterfall as we stood halfway down the steps. We saw people abseiling down the rocks too. Surprisingly going back up was easier than going down. It was a good walk.
Sweet spot, very nice little steep at the bottom but mid level hike. Multiple falls and views!
This is one of the best hiking spots in Sydney. You can start your hike near Blackheath Station. I went to visit the Centennial Grove Grotto, which took about an hour to reach. I really enjoyed the walk, especially because I saw a cockatoo with a different colour that I had never seen before. I also came across some large red mushrooms. You’re likely to discover even more interesting plants and wildlife along the way. The main destination was amazing—the water and air were incredibly clean and fresh. While I was there, I saw someone swinging into the water, so if you’re interested in doing the same, it’s a good idea to bring your swimsuit. Don’t forget to pack some food and drinks—you’ll definitely enjoy the experience
