Bennetts Beach stretches north from Hawks Nest along a long, scenic shoreline. In the southern section near the surf club, dogs are welcome on-leash. The designated off-leash exercise area is the open beach further north — roughly 3.8 kilometres north of Sanderling Avenue — where dogs may run off-leash dawn to dusk. Dogs are prohibited at the Yacaaba Headland and Myall Lakes National Park end, and must stay 50 metres clear of patrolled swimming areas.
Dogs are permitted on-leash in the southern / surf-club section of Bennetts Beach. Stay 50 metres clear of patrolled swimming areas. The off-leash exercise area is the open beach further north (see Bennetts Beach 4WD/north section).
This would have to be one of the most beautiful places on the NSW coastline
It is a beautiful beach. It has stunning views. This is part of Hawk Nests beach. Reaching the beach for an hour from Newcastle city driving is not going to waste your time. It is extremely wonderful. The view brings such an unforgettable experience. It is an exciting holiday destination in NSW. I will love to return and swim in the beach in near future.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
