Lockleys Pylon Trailhead

Easy trail, but the awful drive in on 5km+ of unsealed road nearly killed me off before we started. Sadly, one of the only locations I went to in the blue mountains without toilet facilities, and given that my brekkie had been thouroughly shaken around inside me to the point I thought I might shhh myself I was grateful to find an immodium in my bag. Out of all the walks in the mountains this was my least favourite and not worth my anguish to look at a pile of rocks. Then had to do that flipping drive again 🤢

Excellent trail, well marked and easy to follow path. Lovely view at the end too. We went during warm slightly overcast weather and the breeze was lovely. Quite exposed trail so be prepared for sun exposure. There is an unsealed road, so tread carefully. There is parking at the start of the trail. Bring plenty of water.

Great walk. Dirt road in can be a bit rough, so be mindful if you're in a 2WD. In this case, only visit when it's dry. Walk is through general scrubby bush, but in spring there are plenty of wildflowers about. The final km of the walk once you leave the bush and enter open grassland is where the lay off begins.

It's a fairly easy walk. The views are spectacular. I watched the sunset which means walking back in the dark. It's very easy to navigate. It does get very windy in the exposed parts of the trail. Large parts of the walk are sheltered. I would like to come back to spend the entire day around this area
