Walked the Basin Walking Track today. Located St Georges Basin on the South Coast NSW. I walked 7km before having to turn around and return. Still a few kms to be travelled from that point. I started at the Island Point Rd boat ramp end. Track is not intended for wheelchairs. Easy walk for all ages. Dogs and bikes are allowed as well. There are plenty of seats along the way. There are also plenty of access tracks up to the main road to with some incorporating steps. Awesome walk along a beautiful part of the coast.
The walk is fairly easy but feels endless—you could spend a couple of days exploring the basin on foot. The scenery is breathtaking, with a variety of bird species and occasional white sandy patches where you can stop for a swim. The atmosphere, the scents, the feeling of being there—it’s almost impossible to put into words. I highly recommend visiting!
A fairly flat and easy walk, with much of it making use of the non-slip board walk. Lots of great views and places to stop along the way.
Beautiful walking track around the water. Some sections of the path are really well maintained, with elevated walkways and signage about local salt marsh, but some parts of the track are a bit more rustic, so do prepare for your shoes to get a bit wet and to navigate a few rocks, branches, roots, puddles, and shoreline. Lots of beautiful native flora and fauna to see, too. Well worth a stroll if you’re in the area.
A fun walk along the waters edge. There are a number of joining/exit points, however some are difficult to find unless you're already on the track. The track itself is a mix of surfaced, dirt, and logs/walking-grid for some marchy areas. There's a good kids playground near the carpark about half-way around (middle of the southern east-west leg).
