There is a memorial there for Nate Parnell, however it is very confusing to call it Nate Parnell Memorial Point as the point has long been identified as Macleans Point. The long established Basin walking trail is the hiking trail that passes the memorial so it is again confusing to identify this as a hiking trail.

This name is misleading it has not been approved by the geographical names board of NSW nor does it meet there criteria for a Geographical name, however I do applaud the sentiment to commemorate the death of young local with a memorial. I think a simple change to the title to Nate Parnell Memorial as there is one there, would prevent google from removing the name altogether.
