Hanging Rock Lookout is a popular dog-friendly park in Sanctuary Point where dogs are welcome on lead.
Dogs are welcome on-leash at Hanging Rock Lookout, a Shoalhaven City Council park. Under the NSW Companion Animals Act 1998, dogs must be kept on a lead and under effective control in public places throughout the Shoalhaven, except in Council's designated off-leash areas. Dogs are prohibited within 10 metres of children's play equipment and food preparation areas.
Beautiful place and a spot to take in the sunset and a nice and chilled hiking trail on Ben's Walk with our dog.
Beautiful location to spend some hours. A small trek which is circular and leaves you to pretty much same place where you starts but it's accompanied by some gorgeous river lookouts, hill pathways and a shaking bridge. Ample parking available along with washrooms. No food or water options so come prepared.
This lookout has a fantastic view with a short trail (stairs) which allows you to see many amazing rock formations. Friendly for kids but not those with mobility challenge as you need to walk through some stairs. The view of Shoalhaven River is so vast and windy as though you are looking at the ocean! Parking is only 50m away so it's very convenient. There are benches at the flat area so if you are travelling with elderly who don't want to explore the trail, they can rest at the sitting area and enjoy the view. Highly recommended if you are in Nowra!
Absolutely stunning views from Hanging Rock Lookout. The scenery overlooking the river and surrounding hills is peaceful and breathtaking, especially with the dramatic clouds reflecting on the water. It’s a perfect spot to pause, take photos, and just enjoy nature. The lookout is easy to access and well worth the visit if you’re exploring the area. Highly recommended for a relaxing stop with beautiful panoramic views.
Bens walk is a nice wee bush walk along the river only about 20 mins. Starts at the small car park and takes you down the hill to the water and back up again about 200m from the carpark. Theres a longer route which i didnt habe the time to try.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
