HISTORY This site is a nationally significant site being one of the earliest and potentially least known Government farms dating back to 1801. The farm was the staging point for the first ever convict rebellion on Australian soil in 1804. A stroll around the park will bring to life the story of the convicts and their fateful quest for freedom as well as the early settlers of the district. The main walking 🚶♀️ track has educational signs that follow a timeline history of the land from the use by the Dharug people, through establishment of the convict farms, church globe, lunatic asylum, orchards, and small farm holdings. This park is home to the critically endangered ecological community Blue Gum High Forrest and is one of the largest remaining stands of Blue Gum high forest reserved in the 🌎. The threatened species Powerful Owl 🦉 is known to use Castle Hill heritage park for hunting. The parks features include concrete walking 🚶♀️ tracks 👣, picnic areas, playground, public toilets 🚻, bbq area, convict well, creek, and history signs. This is a heritage listed site within a bushland setting its situated on 20 hectares.
We love this place as this is one of the most well-maintained park with proper walkways, boards with historic details, toilets and children's play area. This is one of the few parks where walkways with appreciable slopes are there which definitely help to burn calories. Also there are picnic areas with barbecue and decent sitting places. Suggestion; one area specifically requires more attention As we couldn't find any bins to throw our garbage.
Beautiful park with some kids playing areas .. nice for a day out or short picnic. The kids love it
A beautiful reserve for a morning walk! It was peaceful and quiet, with the fresh scent of eucalyptus all around. I loved hearing the calls of the whip bird, spotting a beautiful kookaburra, and listening to the gentle sound of a small stream flowing nearby. The tracks offer a choice between straight, easy paths or elevated areas if you want a bit more of a challenge. A refreshing and calming place to start the day.
There’s a park I really love going to for walks and runs. It’s about 10 kilometers from my home, around a 15-minute drive. On weekends, it’s full of people lying on the grass, soaking up the sun. You’ll see dads playing soccer with their kids, groups of children running around together, and some simple playground equipment like slides, swings, and toddler-friendly gear. If you walk the outermost loop, the park’s actually pretty big. Towards the back, there’s an area that feels like a bit of untouched forest — it hasn’t really been developed yet. There are lots of parrots flying around, and on a sunny day, the blue sky and green grass make everything feel full of life.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
