I’ve been coming to this bakery chain for years. I used to live very close to their Bourke Street shop in Surry Hills, and thank goodness they’ve opened more branches around Sydney. I usually visit their Alexandria branch because there’s a convenient parking lot right next to the shop. As for the food, I still reckon their pies and sausage rolls are among the best in Sydney. The coffee hits all the right notes too, with a lovely crema and a smooth aftertaste. Friendly, lovely staff to top it all off.
Reliably good food and decent coffee. The pork and fennel sausage roll has been a staple of Sydney for years and continues to satisfy with a flaky pastry without being overly heavy. The pain au chocolate was very light and crispy with just the right dash of chocolate down the centre. On a side note, parking can be quite tricky here sadly, but worth a little walk from a few side streets away.
We were lucky to find parking at the back, but the experience went a bit downhill from there. Arriving just after 1pm, we found several popular items already sold out. I opted for a sausage roll, which was okay but not as tasty as I remember from the Surry Hills store. The meat pie was below average, the filling lacked flavour, though the pastry was excellent. Hot drinks like the hot chocolate and coffee were definitely the highlight – well made and enjoyable. Service was disappointing. The two young ladies who served us initially seemed disinterested and unfriendly. Thankfully, an Asian staff member who served us later was much more welcoming and helpful. Overall, I’ll likely stick to the Surry Hills location next time for better service and more consistent food quality.
One of the best bakery in Sydney at Alexandria, near Mascot! Freshest bread, cupcakes, pastries. Once you have tasted freshest bread & sourdough, you won’t eat bread from supermarket anymore. We love their olive bread, so soft & delicious.
Big shoutout to the Thursday morning staff 2 gentleman and 1 lady! Super helpful, full of energy, and always smiling. They really brought a great vibe. The service was spot on, and the pie and coffee were absolutely awesome.
