Kitchener Dam has a scenic 1.6km walking track that loops around the water, an easy outing for families and dogs. Dogs are welcome on-leash, and the track is a comfortable length for a relaxed walk. Parts of the path can go under water with logs to cross after rain, so it suits drier days. A pretty on-leash walk in a peaceful setting.
Dog rules
Kitchener Dam is a Council park managed by Cessnock City Council. It is not a designated off-leash area, so dogs must be on-leash and under effective control at all times, and must stay at least 10 metres from children's play equipment. This is such a cute playground for younger kids. You can walk down to the dam and see the ducks. Toilets are decent. Play ground is not fully fenced but is set back on a fairly quiet road.

Beautiful scenic walking track around dam. At 1.6 km it’s great for kids and dogs on leash. Some of the track is under water with logs to cross so not great for prams.

Really pretty at some parts and unique walk. Had a lot of fun except was cut short by the flooded paths. Could explore further cycling or when the water has cleared a bjt.

A bit Muddy after all the rain but Xena enjoyed her bush walk. Checking out the old coal mine. They say they used Clydesdales to hoist the coal up.
