What people say
Great food and friendly bar service, however, some staff were extremely rude and had unnecessary targets on certain groups that were in at the time. Approached our table on the outdoor deck and told us to not smoke or vape which is totally fine and no one had any issues with. However, the table right next to us was blatantly doing what they told us not to; smoking and vaping. I’m not sure if they on purpose didn’t see the group that was double the size of ours, or if it was a thing related to age difference? our group ranged from 18-20 while the smokers were clearly middle aged. Additionally, same thing in the pokies. Not a single one of us could stand next to one of our friends, but yet there was a group of FOUR older men right behind us gathered for their mate at another machine. Told us to leave if we weren’t playing, which is fine and if that’s the rules, it’s okay. But to have the double standard displayed right in front of you is what ruined the experience. Staff that told us this, were not speaking nicely either. Didn’t say why when we asked why we weren’t allowed, and spoke so obnoxiously with unnecessary attitude. One of the same staff ladies gave me a rude look as I left when I offered her a smile. Would rate for food and drinks, but not for friendliness or service.
Service was fantastic, the server went above and beyond to make sure our order was correct, our kids were comfortable and happy. The food was average, all cooked well (chicken parmigiana was cooked perfectly, prawns in pasta deveined and cooked nicely) but lacking in flavour or pizzazz for the price. The play area was clean, chaotic and loud - loads of kids having a great time. The women's bathroom was in need of some attention and wasn't as clean as I would have liked, and with only one accessible toilet (another unisex toilet was available that may have been accessible?). It was quite busy for a Sunday around 5pm which reflects the holidays, and occasionally a bit loud. We were visiting from out of area, so aren't likely to visit again but found it overall pleasant. The effort and kindness from the server made our visit worthwhile.
Had a lovely time at Huntlee for lunch. We loved that there was face painting for the kids and a play area. Only thing I would say needs attention is that we did not know where to go to be given a table so we found a table ourselves and one of the staff told us that the it was reserved but found us a different one. Very busy atmosphere but that’s to be expected on weekends. All the staff were lovely (especially the dark haired lady running food) and the food was very nice but did seem a bit pricey for what you get.
Once again we celebrated in relaxed style, enjoyed delicious fresh food, great service, and comfortable amenities. Yesterday's music was fabulous too. Sometimes a little loud, but very entertaining. My husband and I live at Tea Gardens, approximately 80 mins from the venue, our three adult children and their children, live at Singleton, approximately 20 minutes from the venue. Huntley Tavern is perfect in everyway for us to meet and celebrate, as being just off the Hunter Expressway, makes it easily accessible for everyone. Thank you again Huntley Tavern for being part of some great memories.
Fast service and didn’t wait long for the food.Once served the salad was a serving to feed a 2 year old, barely any chips the steak was delicious though. Getting a drink (cocktails) for $20 each to receive the little glass being a regular cocktail drinker it was under average no fruit involved either total let down and the girl that made it seemed as though she does not enjoy her job. While drinking a patron walked past our table and kicked a high chair that was next table from Us luckily the guests just left . so disrespectful and we definitely won’t be back. For altogether near $100 you would think the service would be more friendly and quantity of food.
