The Cathedral of Ferns in the Blue Mountains is a stunning natural sanctuary that truly lives up to its name. Nestled in a secluded area near Mount Wilson, this lush forest offers an ethereal experience, with towering tree ferns forming what can only be described as nature's own cathedral. The green canopy above and the soft forest floor below create a tranquil atmosphere that beckons visitors to pause and reflect. Accessible by a relatively easy walking trail, the Cathedral of Ferns is a haven for nature lovers, birdwatchers, and photographers. As you wander through the ferns, you'll likely hear the melodic calls of native birds and perhaps even spot some local wildlife. Interpretive signs along the trail provide valuable information about the area's ecology, adding an educational dimension to the visit. The site is also equipped with picnic tables and a small parking lot, making it convenient for families or groups looking to spend a leisurely day in a unique natural setting. However, amenities are limited, so it's advisable to bring your own food and essentials. The only drawback could be its popularity during peak seasons, when the tranquility can be somewhat diminished by crowds. Despite this, the Cathedral of Ferns remains a must-visit destination for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the beauty of the Australian wilderness.

Spectacular concentration consisting of some of the tallest ferns I have ever encountered. Short circular walk, alongside the edge of an expansive picnic area - with ablutions and plenty of parking.

A short walk through a very dense, damp, green section of forest. Visually very different from the more common massive views near by. It was a very hot day and this area was a cool relief. A lot of flying insects, but not mosquitos. Picked up one leech that managed to get me. It had been ages since my last encounter and had let my guard down.

Great off grid camping site, plenty of grass area for tents, barbeques and picnic tables. Bring your own water as only tank water available.

A great place to be. Short stroll from the car park. We went there on a cold but sunny day. There were patches of mud on the track. The place is at least 2-3C cooler then the bilpin area.
