Thompsons Creek Dam is a waterside dog-friendly park in Wallerawang where dogs are welcome on lead. You'll find parking and toilets nearby.
Dogs must be restrained while in a public place, except in the designated fenced off-leash areas: Endeavour Park (Lithgow), Montague St (Lithgow), Lake Wallace (Wallerawang), and Williwa St (Portland). Dog faeces must be removed immediately. (Source: Lithgow City Council — Off-Leash Areas, council.lithgow.com.)
Please note this is a restricted area and owned by Energy Australia. I came to this area for fishing after reading good reviews but was utterly disappointed to now that the access was closed and you need to walk a fair bit to reach the dam area for fishing. There was also a sign post which makes you feel unwelcome as if you are trespassing. There were a few cars in the car parking. This spot is known to the locals. Suggest avoid this area and go to nearby Lake Wallace for fishing. Better avoid this place.
Beautiful dam with clear clean water. Could do with some toilets at the carpark etc. long walk from the carpark to the dam.
Was there for 3 hours and no bite, tried using plastic lure as suggested but no luck.
Great spot to walk and fish for rainbow, brown & tiger trout. It doesn't always give the fish up that easily, but when it does it's rewarding.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
