You may be led to believe that you’ve been transported to a 5 star hotel lobby on the beach, that’s the feeling you get when stepping inside this lovely cafe for the first time. With a wonderfully warm welcome I was treated to a front row seat of 180 degree views of the ocean, opened glass slatted louvre windows and huge open glass fold backs covered the entire front, there was a light cool breeze blowing through the warm sun drenched room which added greatly to this peaceful mid morning dining experience. Breakfast is served 8-11:30 and lunch 11:30 -2:00, ( no dinner ) and I was just in time for a very late breakfast, Order and pay at the counter ( which is one of my biggest annoyances ) I placed my order and got served by a lovely very happy young lady. My coffee / cappuccino arrived very quickly, it was made very well, thick and foamy and it was delicious but extremely sweet given I ordered it with only 1/2 a sugar, ( tasted like 3 ) but given I was in such a good mood by my surroundings and wave watching I decided I couldn’t be bothered going to find someone and getting it remade. My eggs Benedict ( with the good branded hollandaise 👍🏻) arrived without delay and it was very good, everything was cooked perfectly including the poached egg. The view I had, made eating here feel extremely luxurious and self indulgent, which was a soul satisfyingly good thing. With such beautiful weather on a mid winter day, I savoured every bite and felt more calm and relaxed with every passing moment. The restaurant was almost empty and was very quiet which I thoroughly enjoyed. With great food good coffee and heavily views what more could you ask for. I left feeling full, content and like I’d been on a mini holiday ( if just for 40 minutes ) The service overall was excellent, happy polite staff ( except trying to hunt someone down to get some pepper ) it was a great experience and I’d definitely dine here again. With so many beaches at my doorstep with cafe/restaurants it’s hard to pick a favourite but I have a feeling this might turn out to be my new favourite from now on. This is my favourite beach in the area, I used to get fish and chips ( down the road ) and frequently come sit on this beach in the summer time to eat it before quick dip, ( since that store closed some time ago 😭 ) I haven’t been here in a long while but I’m very grateful this cafe moved here from the old location and very happy that I’ve rediscovered them both. Together the better. I would recommend this cafe. I would return. Pricing is a bit all over the place now, Some things are very responsibly priced others are very overpriced. Portion sizes are average to larger. Table water is given as you are seated without asking ( which is the way it should be everywhere ) Child friendly/ high chairs / kids menu available. Seating is suitable for 1 person up to a large group. Views spectacular Bookings recommend Small array of packaged/gift ware style purchasable items available ‼️ NOT PET FRIENDLY: as this is an indoor restaurant. However, There is another outside cafe in the grassed / car park area with outside seating, That one is dog friendly & with council style dog water bowl taps nearby. The beach here is NOT dog friendly.

The food was great, the service however was not that great. I understand that it is a beach vibe and relaxed, but the junior staff need mentoring. Upon arrival the young girl led us through the restaurant and did not stop at our table, she kept going, so I asked where do we sit,and she said oh over there. The Anchor, if you have young ones on your payroll at least give them a crash course on hospitality. We were not told where to order, nor were there glasses on the table to go with the carafe of water. I would have happily given 5 stars if we felt welcome. Atmosphere 5 stars

We had such a wonderful breakfast this morning, food was fresh, delicious and cooked perfectly, all came out at the same time, great value for money, the staff were lovely and a fantastic view from our table!!

Breakfast bliss at The Anchor Lakes Beach 🌊☕ Perfectly poached egg nestled on a field of earthy mushrooms, fresh baby spinach, and crumbled feta — all atop the chef’s own house-baked sourdough 👌. Paired with a silky cappuccino, it’s the kind of start that makes you slow down and savour every bite. Bonus? The chef sent me home with a loaf of that incredible sourdough — on the house!”

We had a very enjoyable lunch here! Had it not been a day of pouring down rain, the view of the ocean was great and the staff was extremely friendly and efficent! My wife's coffee was good and I ordered a tall milkshake! They gave the milkshake to me in the metal mixing container, which pleased me because it felt "comfortable" and larger than an ordinary glass! My wife had the "Anchor Burger" and I had the "Beef Wrap", and both came with a side of chips! The chips were cooked to perfection! All in all we will definitely make it one of our regular lunch/dinner stops!
