Edit - back again for a birthday lunch, this time I decided to try the poached chicken salad and it was very nice. A generous portion of chicken and the dressing had a lot of flavour. The rest of our table were pleased with their meals as well. Edit - came back again and was disappointed with the food. Ordered the chicken schnitzel and sadly it was overcooked, oily and the salad was a handful of dried rocket leaves. At least the view and wine was still good. Better luck next time 🤷 First time dining here with friends. Great food, service, atmosphere and view!! Plenty of off street parking. Will definitely be back.
Stunning sunset views of Sydney harbour and Parramatta River at Watergrill. Great spot for a catch up with friends and family. Good affordable meals which came out surprisingly quickly during a busy meal service. Great gem of a venue in the inner west of Sydney.
After a long wait and finally having an opportunity to experience Watergrill as part of the Dedes group, the time had come. With the most spectacular seating producing a front row extravaganza, I was hoping for a similar standard for both food and service. The food was impressive but as I inferred, the reputation of a Dedes group restaurant preceded it so we can tick that box. The service could be a little better to match the view and the food but the team are young, they will learn. Just a bit more attentive and less dismissive when asking questions would be a great start. A little more attentive to clearing tables as well would have been fantastic. Overall, looking forward to coming back to try out other menu items. Well done Watergrill and Dedes group team.
We've been to Watergrill several times and always enjoyed our meals. We hadn't been for quite some time and were looking forward to enjoying some seafood. We ordered the seafood platter and it looked great when it arrived. Unfortunately looks were deceiving. The octopus was awful. It had some sort of spice on it which gave it a terrible taste. Three other adults on our table also tried it and agreed with our thoughts. The squid was very mediocre and had a slight after taste which I think was the oil. The grilled barramundi was nice, as was the smoked salmon and the tuna on the cold platter. The natural oysters were small and didn't taste good at all. I only ate one as I was afraid of getting food poisoning! The grilled prawns were dry and disappointing however the worst thing was the lobster. We paid $37 extra for a half lobster mornay. I put my fork into it and it was very tough. I struggled to lift some of the meat out. I soon realised that the meat had not been separated from the shell and just had some mornay sauce put on top. When I pulled my fork out, it had some kind of intestinal tract on it! There was also a section which was black. The lobster hadn't been cleaned! At this stage, we called over a staff member who said he would take the lobster to show the chef. He returned with a food order number. We said that we didn't want a replacement - by this point we were over the seafood and totally disappointed. I decided to just have some salad. I added the vinaigrette dressing and started eating it. There was so much vinegar in the dressing and I couldn't eat it. The staff member then returned with 3 serves of cake/dessert for our table where there were 7 adults and 2 children. My husband and I didn't really feel like dessert and would have preferred a refund for the lobster, however this option was not offered. Our friends didn't order seafood and their meals looked and apparently tasted OK. For my husband and I, our overall experience was extremely disappointing to say the least.
Dinner here tonight was fantastic. Found a nice table overlooking the Parramatta River. There are many options of outdoor and indoor dining. Very spacious. The food as sensational. My favourite of the night was the Tuna Tataki. The staff were also very attentive in clearing the table when we were finished.
