What people say
I enjoyed the Lil Lane bowl overall — the sweet-and-sour sauce was refreshing, though the sweetness was slightly on the heavier side for my taste. The kimchi Fritter was also tasty, but the mayonnaise was a bit too much, which made it feel a little greasy. However, what I found not worth the price was the $8 cheese melt. It was just a very small slice of bread, and I even had to order an extra side of $4 kids scrambled eggs separately.
Ordered the ugly potatoes with chorizo but was disappointed. With such a name, you’d forgive the presentation but my issue was more the mushy mouthfeel of the dish that really needed some crunch element. The roast potatoes helped somewhat but there just wasn’t enough of them to take on the universe of mushiness on the plate. Maybe some roasted hazelnuts would have helped. The feta cheese and soft boiled eggs made it hard to tell either apart. If you order chorizo you expect some juicy charred saltiness, instead I got three sad and soft sausages that lacked any real depth of flavour. I liked the idea of the dish but think it can be improved a lot more to deliver more punch for the calories it’s serving up.
Absolutely blown away by this hidden gem of a café! From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff greeted me with genuine smiles and an energy that made me feel instantly at home. It’s rare to find a place that nails both food and service, but this café delivers on every level. Let’s start with the egg and bacon roll—hands down, the best I’ve ever had. I’ve eaten my fair share of breakfast rolls, but nothing has ever come close to this one. The bacon was crispy yet tender, the egg perfectly cooked with a rich yolk that melted into the fluffy bun, and it was all brought together with a sauce that added just the right amount of zing without overpowering the classic flavours. Every bite was pure joy. It’s the kind of roll that makes you stop mid-bite just to appreciate how good it is. And the coffee? Simply delicious. Smooth, full-bodied, and expertly brewed. You can tell they take pride in their beans and how they prepare them. Whether you’re after a flat white, a long black, or something a little fancy, they’ve got you covered. I’m picky about my coffee and this place absolutely nailed it. What really sets this café apart though, beyond the unbeatable food and top-tier coffee, is the service. The team here are just lovely—attentive, kind, and clearly passionate about what they do. They take the time to get to know regulars, but also make newcomers feel like old friends. It’s the kind of hospitality that stays with you long after you’ve left. One of the best parts? The weekday combo deals. They offer incredible value, pairing a quality meal—like their famous egg and bacon roll—with a coffee for a price that honestly feels too good to be true in this day and age. It’s the perfect stop for a pre-work pick-me-up or a mid-morning break. These deals aren’t just budget-friendly, they’re quality-friendly—you’re not compromising on taste or portion size in the slightest. It’s clear this café puts thought and care into every aspect of their service. From the fresh ingredients to the cozy atmosphere, to the unbeatable customer service and great weekday deals, this place is setting a gold standard. If you’re in the area (or even if you’re not), make the trip—you won’t regret it. I’ve officially found my new go-to spot, and after one visit, I’d bet you will too.
I absolutely love Justin and the team! Their service is exceptional, and the food is outstanding—especially the fresh muffins and baked goods. They’re always so friendly and welcoming, making every visit a delight.
You should try this great little gem in Lane Cove. Been here a couple of times, and have tried 6 different items. Verdict: they're all delicious! Definitely worth a try if you're ever in Lane Cove. The soba with Katsu Chicken is our favourite, followed by their eggs Benny on Hash Brown. They make their own hash brown and the eggs are cooked perfectly. The egg Benny comes with a nice, flavourful, slightly spicy sauce and also comes with crispy sweet potato crisps & pistachio crumbs (omg, what). PS: if you to there on a weekday, they have breakfast special. Like.. Avocado toast + flat white for $12. What. For such a high quality food, it really doesn't get any better than that. Plus the staff are really lovely.
