Spontaneous visit after walking around the bay on a hot day, we dropped in for a refreshing cold drink and lunch outside on the roomy deck. The fish tacos special were delicous and the salt & pepper fried squid was so tender and yummy accompanied by a fennel salad with little sprinkles of dill and lemon mayonnaise. We are looking forward to our return visit to try other dishes on the menu.

After walking the Brooklyn to Kangaroo Point boardwalk, we returned to the Anglers Rest and had a nice cold beverage and ordered some food. The service was friendly and I noticed that there was always staff moving around and tidying up tables. Very attentive. The food was delicious. I ordered a dish off the specials board - Linguine Vongole which was delicious. There was 4 of us and all of us were happy with our meals. We were fortunate to get a seat outside on the verandah which was perfect for an ideal ambience or enjoying a Sunday lunch.

Would love to give a great review like the number of 5/5 reviews I have read but unfortunately can't. We had booked a table in the restaurant area for lunch on a holiday Tuesday. We ordered lunch for the 4 of us and waited. And waited and waited. After 2 hours of waiting an approach was made direct with the kitchen manager. We were offered a number of excuses and told part of our food would be arriving shortly. This didn't happen. Over the next half hour and no food, we were then told part of our order could not be met as they had run out of oysters. No oysters at Brooklyn, seriously?? Things then went from bad to worse but still no food. To say we were hangry was an understatement. After involving the licensee and restaurant manager we negotiated an outcome. To their credit we received a free meal, abeit after 2 1/2 hrs of waiting. However, the experience was terrible. They clearly cannot cater for the amount of people they are trying too. There were numerous patrons complaining about the wait times in the booked section of the restaurant. They are trying to appease customers who have booked as well as walk in patrons, with neither receiving the service that the price of their food deserves. Pick up your game Angler's Rest. Word of mouth is important.

Love this place, 20 plus year patron, but have been a lot lately with the new ownership as the offer is fantastic value, fresh fish & chips ($28) and burgers ($22) are great - can't say anything about the rest of the menu because thats all we eat! Great day out with a group - really can't beat it for value. I have nothing to do with ownership or anything - just love a day out there. Buying wine at bottle shop prices plus $5 corkage makes for big savings if you like a drink. Beer prices are good too - way less than Sydney pub prices. The train is a great ride that kids love, you can really relax and its only a 2 minute walk to the station. Lots of great trailer boats go past if you are into fishing/boats - plenty of trains and boats for kids to watch. Cheap & good pool tables as well.
