What a great cafe! Ordered pancakes, the Riverside breakfast and kids pancakes. Great portion sizes.. so much that we couldn’t fit it all in. Pancakes were beautifully fluffy. Also ordered hot chocolates which were delicious. Great service, beautiful food, lively atmosphere and the wait time was only about 10 minutes which was good.
Went for a breakfast on an average day, the place was not overly busy. Ordered two light meals and two hot drinks. Sat down and waited the normal time of 15 minutes for the food to arrive and it was nice. Freshly prepared raisin toast and an egg and bacon muffin. I watched as the barista completed the drinks ordered by 3 young ladies that ordered ahead of me and then the hot drink for the gentleman who ordered after us, and I watched him head off to work. Two ladies now sat down in the lounge area. Now a tray of hot drinks are made and go, about 4or 6. And then about 25 minutes after we ordered the two ladies received their hot drinks. I can see a coffee mug still parked on the bench no doubt waiting for my drink. Enough was enough. I asked the young male barista to not bother with our order. He has made our drinks on several previous occasions and is a good fella. At the register I requested a refund which was quickly given along with an apology but the explanation that the doctor surgery had put in an order before ours was a lie. That’s what annoyed me the most. If you are going to prioritise the take away drinks over the customer expecting a coffee cup then just own it. Very poor service and very poor management.
Riverside Cafe is a fantastic restaurant. The staff are exceptional! Especially grandma. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed. All the food we had was terrific. Pizza, steak sandwich, , chicken con carne, pizza, chicken souvlaki and especially the fish and chips (flake). Highly recommend eating here!
I brought a tour group of 20 people to Riverside cafe on only a few days notice. We had lots of different dietary requirements and complicated orders. The staff were very professional, calm and friendly in their service. The food suited the tour which had high profile people including politicians. Many thanks to Dee and Riverside Cafe.
