This is probably the first park where the toilet looked like from someone’s home. The sink and toilet were so clean like someone had just cleaned it.

A secret gem of the area - nice spot to capture both sunrise and sunset. Good combination of tracks! Starting just off Denham Court Rd, through the park and back. A scenic 1 hr walk. 🌺

Leppington House Park represents the pinnacle of Stockland’s contemporary greenfield development that seeks to provide integrated green spaces for all of its residents within its master planned community. With a large escarpment spanning three focal areas, with the ‘Leppington House’ being at the top most location, with the expertly decorated pathway providing cinematic sunrise/sunset views of both Denham Court and Sydney (notably the Harbour Bridge). Bicycle access is joyful in nature, with the hilly nature providing ground for swift, enjoyable travel. Safety, too, has been considered, with an array of solar powered dimmable yet still bright lights being placed along most pathways. The centrepiece park consists of a community garden, bringing everyone together, barbecue facilities, enjoyable swings (for all ages), complemented with slides, ladders, and other kid-centric additions, making it a go-to spot for residents. This does not mean, however, that certain aspects of the park are free of scrutiny. Something that sticks out as soon as foot or tire enters the park is the poor surface selection. While it is true that the gravel/dirt paths preserve the “unique feel” of the park, it would have been more tasteful if it was left concrete. The side effects (mud, residual spillage, etc.) are evident in rainy periods, a detriment towards the day-to-day experience of residents on the whole. However, a more important issue to remedy is the incorporation of park gym equipment, as seen in other areas. This is unfortunately non-existent in this area, quite disappointing considering the net positive implications it would have on the wider community (health wise) and the fact there is plenty of room still left in the aforementioned escarpment to accommodate for this. Play areas for older ages should also be incorporated with this change. Picnic areas, too are sparse and should be expanded to the otherwise empty space near the main entrance at Leppington House Drive, as was the case during open day (which were tragically removed at the end). Furthermore, some paths are left without lights entirely, making them inaccessible at night. To add, the condition of the park’s barbecues and bathrooms is deplorable and both are already practically unusable despite the park opening less than a year ago. The community garden, also, left without resources for watering, is ‘left to die’ with most carefully planned plots lying around in a depressive state not tendered to much since open day (over six months ago as of writing!). It is very clear that the ability to maintain such delicate items for the betterment of the community is not at all common. Therefore, it is clear that while Stockland has made notable advances in providing its community with green spaces, certain essentials are left in either a lacklustre state or non-existent altogether. While the landscaping is seen to be excellent, the overall maintenance of the park needs to be improved, as well as the imperative incorporation of a “stock standard” comprehensive community gym with associated play areas for all ages. It can only be through continual community communication, engagement, and associated reform (for everyone’s benefit), that Stockland can become a true representative of its community’s given needs.

A beautiful park with great views across the suburb towards the mountains and the whole Sydney area towards Liverpool and the city.
