The Hotel Alexander in Rydal is a small, country pub set in a quiet and picturesque area. The outdoor beer garden is dog-friendly and has a relaxed, open feel.
The setting attracts birdlife, adding to the slower pace and making it a peaceful place to sit with your dog.
Dogs are welcome in the outdoor beer garden.
Excellent hosts at this classic country pub where the fire is warm and the beers are cold. Great food from the kitchen and an elegant beer garden welcoming to locals and visitors alike
Under new ownership. Make sure you visit this pub. It's got a great beer garden out the back and an open fire in the bar for those cold days. We went 4wd-ing near Mt Walker and dropped in here afterwards for a coldie.
As at 3/2025 there is no food service, day or night at this charming little country pub. Drinks, yes. Giant chess in the beer garden, yes. It is so sad to see this historic building purchased by Sydneysiders and neglected. It is a short diversion from the GW Hwy to the serene, beautiful and historically significant (in terms of western expansion of the colony) hamlet of Rydal. There's a popular flower festival each spring! The Bathurst Bullet stops at the station! Good news, if you want to buy a country pub, this one is for sale. Buy it, live in it, love it! People will come.
This place was magnificent, the owners wife came down and cooked us dinner on their night off when they were closed. One of the locals dropped his pants while we were eating, 10/10 experience. Geniuely incredible, will be back.
We had great overnight stay. Lovely staff, very clean rooms, great food (in particular the Pumpkin Soup special) and that local pub atmosphere you love to find. Will be back!
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
