On the way from Canberra to Sydney, we passed through the small town of The Lazy George. I’d heard the food there was good, so we ordered a burger and the Big Brekkie. Both were really tasty and definitely worth the stop.
Which café closes at 10:20 AM and then takes a lunch break until 11:11 AM? We even made an extra detour of more than 30 min — specifically to have breakfast here, only to arrive and find the doors locked. No warning, no clear information, nothing. This is extremely frustrating and honestly not okay. If your opening hours are this limited or unusual, they should be communicated clearly. Wasting customers’ time like this is not acceptable.
We were excited to try this cafe as we had heard such great reviews but unfortunately that was not the case today. The lady at the counter was rude, miserable and obviously did not want to be there. We had orders 2 coffees - one that she got wrong, a chicken melt and chicken burger with chips. We waited over 30 minutes for our food, I would have understood if the cafe was busy but there was only one other small table in the cafe. At the 30 minute mark, I had politely asked how much longer it would be for our food and she had halfed answered while walking off. I finally got our food and hardly got any sort of apology about the huge wait on our food despite the cafe being quite. Unfortunately the food itself was average at best, the chicken melt was dry and lacked any flavour, the chicken burger was okay-ish and the chips we were given were cold. Overall it was a pretty unpleasant experience and I genuinely hope this review encourages a more positive hospitality experience going forward.
Had brekkie at this café on Friday on the way back to Sydney. I ordered the Eggs Benny as recommended by staff. The best Eggs Benny I've ever had no doubt. Nice atmosphere as well.
A little gem of a Cafe for those travelling the Hume Hwy. Good coffee and arguably one of the best bacon and egg rolls I have ever had. Highly recommended.
