Third Settlement Reserve is a dog-friendly park in Winston Hills with plenty of shade.

A nice reserve with a nice walk. It says it’s a 5.4kilometres walk but with all the side tracks it is a bit more. There are a lot of lorikeets, cockatoos, wrens, robins and lizards to be seen here. A very nice shaded walk. Very enjoyable walk along the river.
Third Settlement Reserve is a top park with play equipment, lots of cover, heaps of parking, a river, basketball courts and more. It's a bit of a hidden gem and we and the kids love it!
Quite place for walking and kids to play (kids play area and basket ball ground). But cant find any water area recently as in Google photos.
Decided to visit this area with my 5yo. Firstly the playground at Third Settlement Reserve is pretty decent and fun to spend about 15min at. We then decided to go for the bushwalk which we thought was meant to be a "loop". We just followed the tracks to the right heading away from the playground and kept following thinking it will eventually loop back to the playground but it kept going on and on with no signage in sight as to how long this would take. We sometimes met at crossroads with 2 different paths and again just had to guess which way to go. Eventually GPS was showing we had already walked just over 1hr (with a 5yo) and appeared nowhere near the original playground. We were again at a crossroads leading up to the road and traffic or where the walking track became wide and looked like it was meant for cars with muddy tyre marks on the ground. Neither looked promising. Luckily met a passerby who advised us to backtrack which we did thankfully otherwise would've gotten lost if we had kept walking on. Also met couple of boys on their bikes who told us of a shortcut over the rocks which led us back to the playground area in no time so for that we are extremely grateful as 5yo was getting extremely tired from walking and I had already fallen on the uneven surface whilst carrying him. I read the post on parraparents thinking this place would be awesome to visit however in reality, we got easily lost whilst following the tracks and also met another fellow mum who also got lost and remarked on the same thing. In the end we haven't seen all that this place has and wished there were better signage so we could make better use of our time instead of blindly following the tracks...
Great 8k walk that follows "Settlers" path. Includes a small waterfall and several picnic spots.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
