New Brighton Beach is a lovely, uncrowded beach at New Brighton with a large dog-friendly stretch. Dogs are allowed off-leash in the inter-tidal zone only, from Strand Street south to the Brunswick River northern breakwall, and must be kept off the dunes and rehabilitation areas. The surf is unpatrolled, so take care. A relaxed off-leash beach with respectful locals.
Off-leash is permitted in the designated section only — from Strand Street south to the northern breakwall of the Brunswick River — and dogs must remain within the inter-tidal zone, off the dunes. Dogs must be on-leash outside this section. The stretch between Ocean Avenue and Gloria Street is prohibited.
Excellent beach. Lovely locals. Respectful dog owners. Surf not patrolled and can get dangerous if not a local and aware. Stick to the shallows.
Lovely beach. A large section is dog friendly. It is never too crowded. Surf is variable as is fishing.
Excellent family beach which caters for our four-legged family members. Beautiful sand and great for children. Plenty of parking.
A hidden gem of a beach, with some beautiful almost untouched bushland nearby. Such as the Optus track, a lovely 2 to 3 hr walk starting at beach.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
