Little Austinmer Beach

Park•Austinmer

Little Austinmer Beach is a small dog beach where dogs can run off-leash 24 hours a day, with dogs kept on-leash going to and from the green zone. The beach is a little rocky, which is part of why it is set aside for dogs, and there is a small amount of parking right by the sand. It is a relaxed, low-key spot for an off-leash run by the water. A handy coastal beach for dogs any time of day.

Frequently asked questions about dogs in Austinmer

Is Austinmer dog friendly?

Austinmer has a good spread of dog-friendly parks and green space for walks and off-leash time. Wollongong City Council's permissive policy means dogs are welcome on-leash at most parks unless signed otherwise.

Where can I take my dog in Austinmer?

In Austinmer, dog-friendly options include Little Austinmer Beach, Glastonbury Gardens, and Pinecourt Park.

Are there off-leash areas in Austinmer?

Yes — Austinmer has off-leash dog areas at Little Austinmer Beach. Off-leash rules and hours can change, so always check current council signage before letting your dog off-leash.

How does Dog Happiness decide if a venue is dog-friendly?

We check council regulations, venue websites and FAQ pages, and community reviews. Council and venue-operator sources carry the most weight. Where confirmed or clearly identified, we show the access status and any conditions that apply. Access information is based on the best evidence available and may not always reflect the latest changes.

Can venue dog policies change?

Yes. Venue policies can change at any time — especially at pubs, cafés, and other hospitality venues. A venue that was dog-friendly last month may have changed its policy. We update our information regularly, but we always recommend checking directly with the venue if you’re planning a special trip.
