What people say
Lovely and cosy cafe down in Austinmer with a 5 min walk to the main beach. Food is up there with the best of the best - pumpkin toastie, OG sandwich, Turkish eggs, porridge - you name it, I’ve eaten it, I’ve loved it. The coffee also is really tasty and does the job - but their Brewed Chai has the heart of my wife and she could drink this instead of water if she could. Can get super packed but with the recent extension there’s more seating available. Bring your dogs, children, friends, family, and why not, even bring your toaster to experience this cafe!
It’s not cheap and the menu could use a few extra options, but the food is sensational, the vibe super-friendly, the staff kind and attentive. Add to that perfectly made coffee and tasty cakes and pastries. I love the location, away from the beach on a wide quiet street. This has the feel of an institution, a true locals hang out. I try to go every weekend and when I don’t, it feels like there’s something missing. Always a good sign.
Its a really lovely place and the food is very tasty and presented in a beautiful way. I do feel like the portions have become smaller over time and I think it is quite pricey for what it is. 27$ for a small slice of toast with scrambled eggs on it and two slices of trout is quite a lot in my opinion.
Lunch at @moorestreetgeneral. Didn't realise I have not posted a review on this cafe. It is located off the main drag. On a quiet little street with a lovely boutique next door. Today, we had their chilli eggs and Turkish eggs, scrambled/poached to perfection, both were "eggcellent". They make great coffee too. I had their ice cream coffee (ice cream and espresso). Yum! Cafe has a good vibe. Never experienced bad food or service here. Staff are warm, friendly and helpful as well. Their menu changes quite often. I still dreamed of the sausage dish I had there years ago!! Highly recommended. Edit: we were there again yesterday and had the G's avo and it was perfect. You gotta try that!
Staff were proactive and attentive with lovely manner. Food was well presented and clever flavours. Vibrant atmosphere, very aesthetically pleasing. Delicious iced matcha too!
