Gardners Inn Hotel offers two main outdoor areas for dogs. The front deck is enclosed, fully shaded, and recently renovated, while the beer garden provides a grassed area with tables and umbrellas.
Both spaces give dogs room to settle comfortably, and the layout makes it easy to choose between a more covered or open setting. On-site parking is available, which makes access straightforward.
Dogs are welcome in the outdoor deck and beer garden areas.
Lovely historic pub. Originally the Scotch Thistle Inn, and later the Hydora Hotel, visited by Charles Darwin in 1836. There's a dog friendly beer garden and the sheltered terrace is also dog friendly for the wetter months. Food is tasty and reasonably priced with a good range of specials everyday. Very popular with locals.
Very nice hotel with a great bistro. Warm cosy fire with a good bar with all kinds of beverages on offer. Parking at rear so no reason to miss this great pub! Colino1861 highly recommended ✅️💯
I stayed in room 10 , it had a small balcony which needed a sweep and table wipe, my room was above the main bar area and looked out onto the main road and blackheath train station. Friday evening and it was karaoke night. Karaoke started around seven and thankfully finished at 11pm. After I ate I went into the bar to watch some of the singing. I went back to my room at about 9pm and did try to watch a movie but unfortunately the music was loud and the singing ordinary to say the least. Thankfully it did stop around 11pm and was able to hit the sack for some much needed sleep. Yes it was Friday night and yes I was staying in a pub. Yes people are entitled to have some fun but if you are looking for an early night etc etc this is not the place.
Called in on speck to get a single room for the night. The room was quite comfy with all that I needed and a bathroom directly across the hallway.Clean, tidy, well presented. The amenities at the pub are very good with adequate parking, beer garden, large back deck, a kitchen delivering prompt substantial satisfactory meals, but the building itself is steeped in history and beautiful decoration typical of the deco era. The story of the Tooth's & Reschs Co. literally oozes from the well adorned walls within the bar with genuine Rousell posters from the time (securely protected behind toughened glass), whilst the hidden gems in the magnificent formal dining hall collate the development of the beer industry giants. Truly a place for the beer enthusiast and historian. This place could be described as a living museum, but it also has a soul that flickers beyond that. The hotel would be nothing if not for the charm of the 4 lovely young attentive ladies who worked so diligently all evening to ensure their patrons hospitality needs were catered for. I would loved to have stayed for another night, but I will definitely return, soon I hope!
We had dinner here on Friday night the food was excellent. We had steak and barramundi, the vegetables were cooked perfectly, and the service from staff was excellent. Excellent value. Will definitely eat here again. Thank you.
