Kurnell Dog Beach is the commonly used name for the Sutherland Shire Council-designated Silver Beach dog off-leash area. It occupies the western end of Silver Beach between the third and fourth rock groynes beside the Bonna Point Reserve car park. The area is open for off-leash use at all times, with parking and toilets nearby. The wider beach is listed separately on Dog Happiness as Silver Beach.

Dog rules

Dogs are allowed off-leash at all times in the designated Silver Beach dog off-leash area at the western end of Silver Beach. The area runs between the third and fourth rock groynes beside the Bonna Point Reserve car park. Dogs must be leashed when entering or leaving the area and are prohibited on the rest of Silver Beach. Have taken cockapoo puppy here on a few different occasions, and each time has been enjoyable. There are plenty of parking spaces, a handy tap for washing sand off and refilling water bowl. And it's not just the beach areas we can enjoy, but lots of grassy areas behind the beach too. I like the friendly vibe here.

Excellent dog beach with views of the city on a clear day. Plenty of easy parking, and also seems to be a popular fishing spot.

So fun! We take our furbabies to play with their dog friends here and they LOVE it! Both have become super confident with swimming as well. There's a border collie meet up the first Sunday of the month (8am in summer, 9am in winter).

If you have a dog, you and your best friend will enjoy it. If you don't have a dog... DON'T GO! The place is filthy and full of dog poo and seaweed washed off the shore. I recommend going next door. The beach next door is nicer and more suitable for people with no dogs.
