I was a bit sceptical about the reception we'd get in a Redfern pub wearing our Roosters gear as we were heading to a game, but the staff were very friendly and welcoming and the service was excellent. The atmosphere is good with the nice, spacious outdoor seating, however it can be pretty noisy when big dogs are barking as it's a dog-friendly venue. Our meals were huge and very tasty, including the father's day special $27 pork schnitzel and the chicken parmigiana. They also have a decent selection of beers.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had a great time at the Woolpack Hotel in Redfern. The atmosphere was lively but relaxed, with a real local pub feel, and the food and drinks were spot on. A special mention has to go to Shannel & Tamara, who absolutely made the experience. They were friendly, attentive and made everyone feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. It’s rare to get service that feels so natural and effortless, and they really went above and beyond. Will definitely be back — places like this are lucky to have staff like them!
What claims to be "the locals local" has fallen from grace. A once welcoming atmosphere where locals gathered to share birthdays, special occasions and memories had turned into a game of "will they get my drink order right and how long will I be waiting at the bar without service." I was appalled to watch the new manager,Josh, lambast one of his female bar staff before firing her for simply asking not to be spoken to in a derogatory manner. The bar manager does very little around the establishment to add to a pleasant customer service experience. If you want to drink in a place where harrassment of female staff is on the menu than the Woolpack is the place for you.....🤮
What has happened to our locals local ? As a long term patron of 30 plus years I have never seen the pub so badly run . What has happened over the last month or so , all the staff have gone & the new staff cannot do their jobs . You wait for ever to served a drink if your not ignored completely . The food is overpriced & awful . The only 2 remaining bar staff Ben & Ellie are the only staff that know what they are doing & actually care about their customers. The new manager I think his name is Josh is never anywhere to be seen , but had no trouble firing Ellie in front of customers when she had asked to be spoken to respectfully by him . we have a great community of locals which sadly now is be ruined ! The owners & management need to address this immediately otherwise they will be losing more customers .
Terrible food. ‘Green salad’ was literally just iceberg lettuce with some kind of gross salad dressing. The ‘barramundi’ was definitely not barramundi, but basa or similar. Steak was too chewy to eat and very grainy - inedible. the gravy was so lumpy and tasted like flour so asked for tomato sauce.
