Redfern Park
Redfern Park is a large, well-used park with off-leash access between 4:30pm and 9:30am daily. The timed window means morning and evening visits work best for off-leash play. The park has mature shade trees, BBQ facilities, and a strong local community — it's a genuine urban park where people actually spend time rather than just pass through. Dogs are excluded from the playground, BBQ areas, and the oval itself, but the surrounding grassed areas provide plenty of room. There's a cafe nearby.
Dog rules
Dog off-leash allowed between 4:30pm and 9:30am seven days a week. Dogs prohibited from: Playgrounds, barbecue areas and oval. Dogs must remain on-leash on oval perimeter. Listed in the City of Sydney dog off-leash areas program.

What people say
Lovely historical park in the heart of urban Redfern, real cultural cross-section of people and a really well used park for picnics, bbqs, children, sportspeople and dog walkers. Lots of park benches for elderly people and shaded and sunny spots to sit and enjoy the day. The cafe also has great coffee! Really great neighbourhood park and an asset to the local community.
Nice Park to walk the dog 😁lots of 🐶 dogs, has free BBQ facilities and playground equipment this park is adjacent to Redfern oval and across the road from south Sydney 🐇 Nrl leagues club and across the road from a variety of cafes, bars 🍸 galleries and more
Nice Park but no public toilet facilities. A couple of BBQ's which seem well maintained. Beautiful palm trees throughout which are reminiscent of old Australian country town parks. However these palms also attract allot of Ibis (aka bin chickens) and results in a lot of white mess splattered about.
Great place to stop & chill out at the fountain. Or kick the footy with the kids, or just sit & read. Lovely park..also great for the dogs, as they can jump around in the fountain on hot days! Really enjoyable park to go to! Always love going there. Super nice to sit in the sun, when we are lucky enough to have sun!! Lol.
Such beautiful massive trees n I've seen the gardeners planting native grasses instead of what I call 'English Grasses ' you know what I mean short grass that needs more watering than other grasses. I do love having nature close, when living in a concrete world. From sweet little grondcover miniatures that look like orcids to beautiful trees that are huge. N yes there's plenty of English Grass to play on lie on. There's gym apparatuses n there's a pool but it's not free.
