Great views of the Blue Mountains. We were there for the sunrise, almost with nobody around. We didn’t have to pay parking since it was before 06:00. Beautiful colours 👀🤗
This place rocks. Come at 6am for the nobody else around experience, and can prob get away with not paying g for parking at that time too. Amazing view and you can get close to the edge. What a spot. Highly recommend a visit.
Lincoln's Rock offers one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the Blue Mountains—it truly feels like you’re standing at the edge of the world! While the scenery is beautiful, please watch your step and stay mindful of the edges, as there are no railings and the terrain can be uneven. Be prepared for a bit of a struggle with logistics, as it can be very hard to find parking during peak hours. Most importantly, since the access road runs through a residential area, please be quiet and respect the local neighbors when arriving and leaving. It’s a must-visit spot, just remember to be a considerate tourist!
Lincoln’s Rock gives you that Blue Mountains wow moment with almost no effort. From the small gravel parking area the path is flat and short, and within a couple of minutes the trees fall away and the whole Jamison Valley opens like a stage set. The sandstone platform feels impossibly broad and smooth, the drop beside it is clean and sheer, and the view runs for kilometres along the escarpment toward Mount Solitary. On a clear day the colours layer from olive green to hazy blue, and after rain you sometimes get low cloud curling up the cliffs like steam from a kettle. Photographers love it for good reason. Every step on the rock changes the angle and the light, and even a phone camera looks like it grew up here. Come for golden hour if you can. Late afternoon light drapes warm tones across the cliffs and turns the valley floor into a soft patchwork. If the wind is up, the sound rushes past your ears and gullies answer with their own echo. It is one of those places where you naturally fall quiet for a few minutes, even with a handful of other visitors milling around for photos. The rock is unfenced in parts, which is part of the drama but also a reminder to watch your footing. Good shoes help, and keeping a comfortable buffer from the edge keeps the focus on the view rather than the drop. Practicalities are simple. Parking is limited so arrival early or late helps, and there are no toilets or water on site. Bring a jacket because the temperature slides fast once the sun dips. The surface is smooth and mostly level which makes it kinder on prams or tired legs than many lookouts nearby. Pair the stop with Wentworth Falls or a coffee in the village and you have an easy, high impact Blue Mountains outing.
BEWARE: Car Park & closure 22.01.26-30.04.26. The car park was closed a few days early with a barrier. A lot of people had parked up in the only section available, a bay with ‘no stopping’ signage. We joined them and went off exploring. The rock is great and worth the trip however when we got back we were fined $330 - pretty steep but seems to be standard. As we were leaving the area we saw the attendant pulled up in their truck. We reckon this is a bit of a tourist trap as even the single yellow can carry the same fine and there’s nowhere to park in the area. Must be generating a lot of money from any out of towners!
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
