Wattamolla Beach

We visited early in the morning and found it peaceful with no crowd. Later, it became quite crowded and parking was hard to find. The only issue was a slight smell in the water. Despite that, it’s a great place to visit and enjoy.

Wattamolla Beach is one of those hidden gems in the Royal National Park that feels like a world away from everything. It’s the perfect blend of lagoon, waterfall, and ocean — all in one spot — making it one of the most unique beaches in NSW. The moment you arrive, you’re welcomed by the calm lagoon on one side, perfect for swimming, floating, or just relaxing in the shallow water. On the other side, the beach opens into the ocean with soft sand and gentle waves that are ideal for a peaceful day out. The short walk from the carpark takes you through beautiful bushland, and once you reach the lookout, the view is absolutely stunning — cliffs, greenery, and turquoise water all layered together. Families love the lagoon because it’s safe for kids, while couples and friends can enjoy picnics, sunbathing, or simply soaking in the natural beauty. The waterfall adds something magical to the whole experience. Hearing the water trickle down while you relax by the lagoon creates a calm, refreshing atmosphere you won’t find at many beaches. Wattamolla is a place where you can slow down, reconnect with nature, and enjoy a peaceful escape from the city. A must-visit spot inside the national park.

The beach itself was underwhelming tbh, not much going on and you can't swim there. However, GREAT BBQ place and gardens to have lunch. I would HIGHLYY recommend taking the small bridge-y path towards these cliff area.

If you go there very early in the morning the sunset is beautiful and on the way there (early in the morning) it’s a little foggy and there is a lake which is absolutely stunning! Sometimes the traffic so long so we had to walk 3 km but it was worth it
