Sharky Beach
Sharky Beach is a relaxed, off-leash beach where dogs run up and down the sand freely. It's not a big beach, but the atmosphere is easygoing and it rarely feels overcrowded. There's enough space to set up a picnic rug and settle in while your dog does laps. Parking is available nearby. It's a straightforward beach day with minimal fuss.
Dog rules
Off-leash green zone beach. Dogs are allowed off-leash at all times. Dogs must be under effective control of a person aged 16+ who can control the dog by voice or other means. Dogs must not attack wildlife including birds. Owners must carry bags and clean up after their dogs. Restricted breed and declared dangerous dogs are not allowed. Dogs must stay on a leash going to and from the beach, including all pathways. Source: Wollongong City Council – Dog Beaches and Parks (wollongong.nsw.gov.au/places/dog-beaches-and-parks)

What people say
Great place to take your dogs for a play.
This beach was not busy. There were a lot of dog owners with dogs having a ball running up and down. Plenty of space to take a picnic rug and sit. At the time we visited, 2pm Sunday afternoon there was parking available. There was a sign not recommended to swim.
A lovely little beach and dog friendly. There was lots of seaweed down the south end but plenty of room to frolic.
Dog friendly beach with parking and plenty of green space for picnics. Not much shelter from the sun so be sure to bring something with you if planning on spending the day. A little quieter than Austinmer Beach down the road. The beach is not patrolled and the currents are really strong so exercise caution if going for a swim 🏊♀️
On the eternal quest to discover more dog beaches with our dogs in the Sydney & surrounding areas - we came across Sharkies beach. There seems to be a good crowd of dogs owners and very social, a good local vibe with families, dog owners and people in the water sharing the beach. Because of the crowd though at certain peak times I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re dog gets a bit nervous by bigger dogs and would advise keeping on a leash initially, as due to the slim shape of the beach and it’s popularity makes it very hard to avoid other dogs (or even people 😂) on this beach whilst your own dog gets comfortable. That’s more personal to our own dogs though and not a fault of the beach hence 5 stars still
