Glenbrook Lagoon

Dogs welcome — rules apply•Dog rules

Updated 19 May 2026

Glenbrook Lagoon is a scenic on-leash walking loop around a peaceful lagoon in the lower Blue Mountains. The tracks are mostly dirt with some road sections, and there are seats and picnic tables along the way. The tree coverage keeps it cool and shaded. It's a quiet, pleasant walk that locals describe as a hidden gem.

Dog rules

Under the NSW Companion Animals Act 1998, section 13(1): "A dog (other than a dog being exhibited at a show or being trialled or trained for showing) that is in a public place must be under the effective control of some competent person by means of an adequate chain, cord or leash that is attached to the dog and that is being held by (or secured to) the person." Blue Mountains City Council publishes a list of 14 designated off-leash dog areas in the Blue Mountains; this venue is not on that list, so the NSW Act's leash requirement applies. (Source: NSW Companion Animals Act 1998 s.13, legislation.nsw.gov.au; BMCC "Off-Leash Dog Areas in the Blue Mountains" page, bmcc.nsw.gov.au/dogs.)

An easy walk close to parking. The lagoon has good birds and ducks wading through. However the water may be contaminated and not advised to swim or fish here. Very peaceful place and great to see such water holes, so close to Sydney city.

Great easy track to walk around with your dog. Most paths are dirt and on some bits of the track around youre back on the road. But great to get out, have a walk, look at the ducks, see if you can spot any turtles and have a mini escape in nature.

Nice peaceful place for a walk, bike ride, sitting and watching the ducks play. The water is polluted but the view is still nice.
