Culburra Beach is a long, open stretch of coastline with wide sand and plenty of space for dogs to move. The sand has a clean, slightly orange tone, and the beach extends far enough to allow for longer walks.
Conditions can vary, with waves sometimes picking up, but it's generally a manageable beach. Behind the sand, there are areas of shrubs and vegetation that offer additional sniffing opportunities. It's especially appealing later in the day, often with a sunset to take your breath away.
Off-leash is permitted in the designated area during restricted times only — from 1 October to 30 April: off-leash 4pm to 8am; from 1 May to 30 September: off-leash 3pm to 10am. Dogs must be on-leash at all other times. Dogs are prohibited in shorebird nesting zones; check the signs at the beach.
One of the most beautiful beaches I’ve been to! Been here twice with family and the views (especially at sunrise) never disappoint! Very peaceful and quiet atmosphere, giving us our own private beach experience to soak in the beautiful sunrise.
Good beach, very quiet and chill. Good place to run, plenty of access along the beach.
The beach is perfect for playing water with body board, with lifeguards, only waist height into the sea for 10 meters. Had a lot of fun here .
We stayed for a week across from Culburra Beach, visiting other beaches along the coast this one feels more family-friendly, with calmer waters and plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. We visited in September and lucky to enjoy daily sightings of dolphins and whales, making it an even more special.
Culburra beach is a great place to visit. Beaches are clean with lots of access. One of the best kept secrets on the South coast.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
