What people say
There are a few things that St Jude gets right: it's a cosy little spot on a gorgeous sunlit street that makes for an incredible ambience and relaxed vibe, and the food is a hit every single time, very reminiscent of the kind of brunch fare you'd get in Bali (which is inspired by Aussie cafe culture anyway, so kind of a chicken/egg situation here). Seriously, anything you order is likely to be good, but the french toast eggs benny and corn fritters are particular standouts! What misses the mark: service. Inattentive, almost dismissive, and never quite warm. This time in particular we had to flag the waitress down multiple times, ask for cutlery after the food had been served, and my friend had to bring the drink they made wrongly (it was regular milk instead of soy and she's lactose intolerant) back to the coffee counter to get it fixed, only to be met with a barista who looked visibly annoyed and inconvenienced. Like... c'mon. I get that there's busy/peak periods but this has been me and my friends' experiences consistently. The fact that the management only replies to glowing reviews and never addresses comments about the service is also poor form. Please take the constructive criticism! You guys could be a 5-star spot!!
Everything was just average. We didn’t hate it, we didn’t love it. The nasi goreng was delicious but way too spicy, I couldn’t eat it after two bites and had to give it to my husband to Finnish - I do think it would’ve been very tasty if they were less heavy on the chilli, or should at least be advertised to be chilli so I could’ve asked them not to add it in. The venue is FAR too loud, although I know this isn’t their fault. Overall, nothing to remember but not the worst.
St Jude cafe is going to be one of my favourite cafe in Sydney . I love the food , service and vibes .. especially the day like this in Sydney. Not many cafes have this vibe in Sydney. Foods were delicious and there were more varieties to choose from. I couldn’t make decision because there were many things I wanted to eat. Not like the others cafes in Sydney are boring especially cafes around my area 😂. I love going out for brunch and explore different areas. We drove pass St Jude couple weeks ago and I spotted this cafe on the way to the other and I told my friend I would love to come here. I love the vibe and atmosphere. Then we came and we were happy we came. I will definitely go back again for sure. Keeping up and you have done a great job guys 👍
St Jude’s is excellent! The menu is unique and you can get things not available at other cafes. Everything we ordered was delicious and the coffee was top notch.
I really enjoyed the Brunch Bowl. Fresh, healthy and flavorful! My husband got the awesome Chicken Benny French Toast. Delicious! Our cappuccino and long blacks were great too. The restaurant has the best ambience and the staff is friendly and attentive.
