What people say
Good suprisingly large cafe on site, selling boxes of chocolate and daily newspapers. FOOD: Basic cafe food available, sadly no gluten free bread, however they do have gluten free banana bread and some pre-made salads. They do have have some vegan and vegetarian options in the cold pre-made salads section. STAFF: Nice people, however not aware of what food they have, ingredients in food etc. Definitely not passionate interested or in their jobs. Expect the bare minimum. ACCESSIBILITY: Wheelchair, walker and pram friendly, they also have a nice outdoor area, so you can also eat outside in the fresh air. Would easily fit a group of eg 8-10 people. LOCATION: Some free (2hour) street parking, 3-5 minutes walk from the bus stops or 10-15 minutes from the train station.
They put the wrong price tag and made me bear the extra costs. When I pointed it out after payment, they didn’t refund or reimburse the difference.
You'd think being situated in a hospital would inspire the minimum in healthy choices. The only soy milk they stock contains TWO types of seed oils and TWO types of sugar. Why?? Your desire to cut costs comes at a HUGE health expense of your patrons :
Great little cafe located inside the Calvary Mater Hospital with a nice welcoming feel as you enter. The layout is fresh, bright and welcoming. A good selection of ready made food items combined with a variety of made to order options for those with the time to sit down accommodates for a large variety of customers. Coffee options were great. Staff were really friendly accommodating and efficient in their service. There is the option to dine indoors or outside in the Mater healing garden which is a nice touch. Access is easy for all (including those with mobility issues) which enables patients who are able to escape from their beds for a little while get some respite and a touch of the world outside. A nice little oasis away from the rigours and stresses of a hospital.
