North Head Sanctuary is a dog-friendly park in Manly.
Beautiful views from ocean to city. We always take overseas visitors here. Abundance of local Flora and fauna. Guided and self guided tours available covering military history including 2nd WW underground tunnels and the 3rd quarantine cemetery.
Joined the Defence of Sydney experience on Sunday, and it was truly memorable! Our guide, Alan, had deep insight and genuine enthusiasm for the military stories of North Head. The level of care and detail that went into the tour was impressive — the volunteers are doing outstanding work. Highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area on a Sunday!
Well worth the visit! It was suggested by the Manly Visitor Information Centre to go to North Head Sanctuary for spectacular panoramic views of the Ocean and Harbour. I was given clear directions for taking a short bus to the location and was there within 10 minutes. Once I arrived, the paths were marked well, and the walk was pleasant around the Fairfax Track to both of the Lookout locations. The trail is also accessible if need be. The stunning views definitely did not disappoint, and my photos did not do it justice! You will find wild turkeys wandering around, and a sign to watch out for Bandicoots. Walked over to North Fort and wandered around a little. There is a also a small cafe and washrooms nearby the bus stop. Spent about an hour there.
Enjoyed the view while we walked from Manly Wharf. There’s a small area where sidewalks don’t exist but luckily it was safe enough to walk as cars showed up in long intervals. Would come back definitely!
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
