Having escaped Nth Syd and moved to Dee Why for a “sea change” I walked along the Strand to find my future “local”. This spot is lovely and on the water and is chill and unpretentious which is exactly my style. 💚 🌊

I gave this place a second chance after a terrible previous experience, and that was a mistake. Last time, the bread portion was laughable—thinly sliced to the point it felt like they were trying to stretch half bread into multiple servings. On top of that, I was almost forced to take a coffee I didn’t want, after changing my order to wine and already finishing my meal. Only after visibly getting upset did one staff member step in and act reasonably. Today confirmed it: you’ve lost a customer for good. The food itself was good—I’ll give credit where it’s due—but everything else completely ruined the "experience". From the start, I was bluntly denied a glass of wine, allegedly due to licensing. Fine, but the delivery was rude and abrupt. A simple, friendly explanation would have gone a long way instead of a flat “No. Can't have wine” Then a random sign was placed on my table with no explanation—reserved? something I didn’t order? a hint to leave? Regardless, it was uncomfortable and extremely rude. The final insult: $3.90 for a small extra of hollandaise sauce. Overall, the staff are bunch young kids, and may be trying, but they have no understanding of basic hospitality. Good food means nothing when the service and eating experience is this poor. Entire experience: repulsive.

$28 for two soggy Barra fish fingers and a plate of chips. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but this dish was the worst fish and chips I've ever had. The batter was soggier than a wet sock. The price was just pouring salt into the wound.

Absolutely loved my experience at Sea Change Café. The haloumi avo was perfect – fresh, delicious, and beautifully made. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the whole place has such a great vibe. Honestly, what more could you ask for? Definitely coming back!

Coffee was okay but not amazing. I had a take away long black and it was room temperature at best so got cold straight away. Flavor profile was decent. but no crema on top which is the best part. Staff were friendly and it was busy. Great location
