The Boathouse Hotel Patonga

Dogs welcome

Updated 11 June 2026

The Boathouse Hotel Patonga sits directly opposite the off-leash Patonga Beach — swim first, eat after. The pub has water views, sheltered outdoor seating, and quality food. The village feels like a hidden paradise, tucked away from the busy peninsula but only a 15-minute drive. The combination of beach and pub makes Patonga one of the better dog day-trip destinations on the Central Coast.

It feels like a hidden paradise, miles away from civilisation, yet only a 15-minute drive from the busy peninsula. A quick dip at Patonga followed by a meal is my little self-reward for all the hard work 🫣🙈 Prices aren’t too bad - I’m personally happy to pay for the right chill vibe and holiday atmosphere every day!!! “Happy hour” drinks definitely help justify me popping in. The meals are lovely too.

I’m not one to leave a negative review but this was ridiculous. We waited 90 mins for food, and it was cold and bland - there were plates of food just sitting at the counter for at least 15 mins so it seemed like inefficient management. We understand that it was a busy day and we were prepared to wait (but did not realise it was a 90 minute wait for just two dishes!!) however this should be addressed by limiting capacity or hiring more staff to keep up with the demand. The price was also daylight robbery for the quality of food and the service ($70 for two dishes) - not coming back again and not worth the money. We got our own cutlery, water and put away the previous table’s dirty dishes (and so many other people doing the same) as it was too busy and crowded.

I never leave negative reviews, but this is the exception. This is not a negative review to the waitstaff who were running around on their feet, but to the management of this place. Many families like my own come here for lunch to get together and spend our hard earned money on food and drinks. When ordering we were told at the counter it is an hour wait for food, we knew this and was ok with that. Almost an hour and a half later our food arrived, COLD!!! It is one thing to ask patrons to wait an hour and a half for pub food, but for it all to arrive cold, dry, tasteless, is completely inexcusable. The table next to us ( also waiting over an hour) also received their food… COLD and were offered a refund my management. As we all should to be honest. Absolutely shocking. As someone who has been coming here since the OG fish and chips shop was around, I will never be back. Do better. If you can’t serve edible food to people who wait and hour and a half, just close.

Went with a large group (booking required) to celebrate a birthday. Food was great, the view even better. I ordered 3 small plates (scallop, calamari (shared) & tuna tostada) which was the food envy selection of the table. One small note was that they did forget /miss 2 meals from our table however as a group of over 20 pax I’m sure it was confusing. These meals came out within 5 minutes of notifying the staff which was great to avoid further delay.

The restaurant looks amazing — great atmosphere, beautiful view, and a really inviting vibe. The pepperoni pizza had all the makings of an excellent dish, but they put honey on it, which just doesn’t belong there. It’s like putting sugar in your beer — some things are better left savory. Without the honey, it would’ve been perfect.
