Wombarra Bowlo was a total accident for us. We were meant to go somewhere else, missed the plan entirely, and ended up here instead. Honestly, it felt like a win. First up, it’s dog friendly (on lead), which immediately lifts the whole vibe. There’s a proper mix of people, not just one “scene”, and the place has that classic community club feel without trying to be anything it’s not. It’s old in the best way. Retro furniture, lived in corners, and that comforting bowlo nostalgia that makes you relax before you’ve even sat down. Add the coastal setting and views along the Sea Cliff Coast, and you’ve got a spot that feels like a little local secret. Food was the highlight. We had the chicken parmigiana burger with chips and it’s genuinely one of the best burgers I’ve had. Crunchy schnitty, lettuce, mayo, and it actually tastes like someone cared. Around the $20 mark and worth it. The shoestring fries were bang on, and the simple stuff like jugs of cold water and plastic cups on a hot day is the kind of practical hospitality that deserves a mention. The kitchen setup here is also a bit better than your standard club bistro, with The Black Duck Bistro known for Thai as well as proper pub classics, so you’ve got options if you come with fussy mates. If you’re the type who likes a place that actually does things, they also run bowls (including social roll ups), plus regular live music and community events and markets, and they lean into being a real local hub rather than a pokies cave. Bar’s open daily from 11am with a solid tap lineup too.

The food was okay and the prices were good. We didn’t have to wait long for our food, which was great. However, the service could be improved. The middle aged female waiter was not very friendly, didn’t communicate much, and didn’t smile. She also took our plates without asking if we were finished. A simple ‘Are you finished?’ would have been nice. Overall, the food was fine but the service needs improvement.

Brilliant spot for families, celebrations with heaps of space for kids and adults. Restaurant food is awesome with huge selection. Drinks and entertainment on weekends are also great

Very impressed with the bistro and atmosphere of the combined club overall. Our family came to celebrate my older mums birthday with a large family group and we’re looking for a low key spot where the kids could run around and we had the choice of indoor and outdoor options and it didn’t disappoint. The food was incredibly good and the Thai dishes were so large we could barely eat all! The kids had great food options and the service was that of a highly ranked restaurant. The beautiful staff made us feel welcomed and even took control of the cake when we needed it to be brought out, supplying candles and all ( which I’d forgotten). It was a lovely experience to make memories as a family and we are truly grateful for the efforts from the staff to ensure that. As a club of course it is a louder atmosphere so if you need a quiet romantic dinner, I would suggest an actual restaurant but we needed somewhere where our noisy family could relax and it was perfect. Highly recommend for a more casual and relaxed event. Thank you to the staff, much appreciated.

Located at 578 Lawrence Hargrave Drive, Wombarra, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺. Such a wonderful little find. Can’t say a bad thing about this place. The food was absolutely delicious and the variety to choose from was great too. The service was excellent, the staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. The view helped make it a wonderful lunch. Can’t wait to come back. My only criticism if I had any, was that it was a very hot day when we visited, we sat outside under the canopy as it was too hot to sit inside. Either they don’t have air conditioning, or it wasn’t turned on. It was really too hot not to have air con or at least fans. Luckily we got some breeze under the canopy. Other than that, a great little club. Thumbs Up! 👍👍👍
